HOW MUCH DO YOUR CAKES COST?
Prices vary depending on size, detail, intricacy & complexity of your design. To give you a starting point, our cupcakes start at $30 per dozen for base pricing, and our custom cakes start at $3.50 per serving and increase from that point.
YOUR CAKES LOOK GOOD, BUT DO THEY TASTE GOOD TOO?
So glad you asked! YES! Our cakes and buttercreams are made using only high quality ingredients including European butter, milk, locally milled flour, sugar, local organic eggs and fresh fruit. We also have a trained professional pastry chef on our team who is constantly testing and trying new flavor combinations to ensure innovation and originality! Often, they taste even better than they look!
DO YOU SELL SHEET CAKES, READY-MADE CAKES OR “BASIC”/SIMPLE CAKES?
As of now, no, we do not offer sheet cakes. WHY? Well, we pride ourselves on creating one-of-a-kind works of art, so NO, we do not offer “basic” cakes because that's just not our style. We work closely with you to make sure each show-stopping cake is unique and reflects the recipient’s personality and sense of style. We create custom centerpiece cakes. Since we are a custom cake bakery, it is VERY RARE that we have grab-and-go cakes available. If we do, it will be holiday promotion that is advertised on our Instagram / Facebook pages! DO YOU MAKE GLUTEN-FREE OR DIETARY CAKES?
Yes, we offer a gluten-free chocolate fudge cake and a gluten-free vanilla cake (PLEASE NOTE!! All cakes are made in the same kitchen using the same equipment. Even though careful sanitation measures are taken when dealing with dietary restrictions, the risk of cross-contamination is always there. WE ARE NOT A CERTIFIED GLUTEN FREE/NUT FREE/DAIRY FREE/ANYTHING FREE FACILITY). All of our buttercreams are gluten-free by nature. We also offer a vegan chocolate cake (contains no eggs or milk, and we use plant-based butter and vegan sprinkles). At this time we do not offer sugar free desserts simply because we have not found recipes that we think are as amazing as our regular cakes!
DO YOU DELIVER?
Yes, we deliver within 30 miles of our cottage bakery (Cortez, Dolores, and Mancos areas primarily) for an additional fee, which includes basic set up and table styling. Price of delivery is based on location. You can contact us with details regarding your event and we can send you a quote.
DO YOU SHIP YOUR CAKES?
Unfortunately, due to Colorado State Cottage Laws, we do NOT ship cakes or any treats at this time.
HOW MUCH ARE CAKE TASTINGS, AND WHAT DO THEY ENTAIL?
We charge $25 per couple for tastings, but when you book your order with us within 7 days of the tasting, the $25 gets applied toward your order. We recommend that you bring in any pictures, invitations, or pinterest boards that may help us come up with something perfect for your event. *Tastings are by appointment only, so give us a call to chat about your event and check availability today!
CAN I STILL BOOK YOU FOR MY WEDDING/LARGE EVENT IF DON'T HAVE ALL OF THE DETAILS WORKED OUT YET?
Yes! We understand that wedding plans evolve over time. It is a crazy process! If you would like to secure your wedding date and book your cake with us, we simply require a $50 deposit. It is non-refundable but does go toward your final balance. We recommend securing your date with a deposit as soon as you know you would like Something Cute Co. to be your wedding cake baker! We book up quickly, as we are a small bakery and are only able to take a limited number of wedding cakes per weekend. At time of booking, it is not necessary to know what flavor or design you would like for your cake. We will discuss all of those details at your consultation.
HOW CAN I ORDER A CAKE, CUPCAKES OR COOKIES?
We currently utilize a google form for all order inquiries. Order inquiries are on a first-come-first-serve basis and you will be sent a quote or invoice via e-mail to confirm your order. Quotes and invoices typically go out on Mondays and Tuesdays. If your order is a rush order or you need a quote faster, please reach out via e-mail (email@example.com), by texting 970-403-5568, or by sending a message on facebook and we will do our best to accommodate. Please note that we will need the following details regarding your event in order to provide you with a quote: date, time, theme, colors, flavors, number of servings, and any photos or ideas you have saved for inspiration and reference.

HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE FOR YOU TO GET BACK TO ME?

DO YOU HAVE A RETAIL STORE WHERE I CAN WALK IN AND PURCHASE CUPCAKES OR VIEW YOUR WORK?
Not currently, no. Someday (and I promise you this!) we absolutely will! We currently bake everything to order for the recipient to either pick up or be delivered from our in-home bakery (also known as a cottage bakery). We are located near the hospital in Cortez, Colorado. If it is pictures you would like to see, we have examples of work featured online (see PHOTO GALLERY). The best way to see our most recent work and some inside peeks to our processes is to follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
HOW EARLY SHOULD I PLACE MY ORDER?
A cake order should be placed as soon as you have finalized all the details of your event (colors, theme, design, amount of servings, budget etc.). Since we are usually booked a few weeks (or sometimes months) in advance, we do encourage early ordering. (4-6 weeks advance notice is recommended, but we’ll be happy to fit you in whenever our schedule permits.)
4-6 WEEKS!? ARE YOU CRAZY!?
Trust us, we are in business to help serve as many customers as humanly possible. However, 1. We are human, and there are only so many hours in the day. 2. We specialize in over-the-top edible art, so generally speaking, people who book with us are usually planning parties/events well ahead of time!. We love you, and would be HONORED to create a cake for you, but please understand that as soon as our schedule fills up, there is very little we can do! If you do end up waiting until the last minute, we can often accommodate rush cupcake orders.
IS A DEPOSIT REQUIRED TO PLACE AN ORDER?
We require a non-refundable 50% deposit to book your order. If your balance is not paid IN FULL three days prior to your event, you forfeit your deposit, and risk not being accommodated.
WHY IS IT NON-REFUNDABLE?
Once an order is booked, we then devote time and energy to planning out and designing your specific order: the timing it takes, the supplies needed, and so forth. That time spent is part of our billable working hours, so before we have even popped your cake into the oven, a good portion of your payment has already gone into the planning process. Also, remember when we told you we book up often? There would be no way for us to go back and get all of the customers we said no to, or to back-fill your spot if you decide to cancel your order. Your deposit ensures availability for you, and we manage our entire production schedule based on your order once it is booked.
After we discuss the details of your event and decide on a cake that you like, if you are interested in booking and would like to proceed, we would require a non-refundable 50% deposit to secure your date. The remaining balance must be paid in full one week prior to your event. The balance and deposit are NON-REFUNDABLE and NON-TRANSFERABLE, meaning you can NOT cancel one date and then change it for another.
WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENTS DO YOU ACCEPT?
We accept all credit cards and cash. For your protection, we do NOT process credit card orders over the phone. However, for your convenience, we will email you an invoice for you to pay online. This invoice also acts as your order confirmation and includes your time-slot and address to pick up your order, so make sure all the details look correct before you pay!
WHAT IS YOUR REFUND/ CANCELLATION POLICY?
A non-refundable deposit of 50% is due upon order placement. Balance is due in full one week prior to your event. If an order is not picked up on the day of or delivery is denied, the client is still responsible for the full balance of the order. We will make every attempt to contact you in the event of a missed pickup or denied delivery. If a cancellation is made less than one week prior to your event, the balance is still due in full. *Please understand that when you book an order, we decline other orders. If you cancel, that could result in hundreds of dollars lost, just to accommodate your order (obviously, whether you cancel or not).
IN THE EVENT OF CANCELLATION:
1. All requests for cancellation must be e-mailed directly to firstname.lastname@example.org with your Name, Date of event, and order.
2. If a cancellation is received, your deposit will not be refundable.
3. If a cancellation is received less than one week prior to the promised delivery/pickup date, the full balance is still the client’s responsibility.
